A civilized society runs on rules and laws.Financial transparency is essential in every matter, and there must be no contradiction between words and actions. Every system in the world operates on certain principles. — Commissioner Regional Tax Office, Mr. Azmat Hayat Ranjha, emphasized this during his chamber visit.
He stated that the economy grows when businesses thrive. Addressing the common question, "Why should we pay taxes when what is the state giving us?", he highlighted that we are provided with top-tier facilities: the best schools, hospitals, and law enforcement agencies. He pointed out the various brands on University Road as a testament to business but stressed that a government cannot function without taxes.
Issuing a stern warning, the Commissioner revealed that 28 out of 36 districts in Sargodha are submerged and dependent on aid funded by tax revenue. He declared that this year is different; state recovery is imperative. With complete data on the business community, an enforcement action pipeline is ready, and the state will now move towards action.
The deadline for the Tax Awareness Scheme (Tax Gowahwara) is 30 September. Businesses are urged to submit their tax returns on time, ensure absolute transparency in their filings, and fulfill their national duties.
Commissioner Ranjha assured, "If your intention is pure and your heart is free of deceit, our doors are always open for you. We will resolve your issues over a cup of tea."
Earlier, President of the Sargodha Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Khawaja Yasir Qayyum, also addressed the gathering. He affirmed that a country cannot run without taxes and acknowledged the business community's crucial role in this. He advised traders to fully enter the documented tax system, warning of difficulties otherwise. Paying taxes, he said, is proof of one's patriotism, noting that in foreign countries, people pay their taxes voluntarily.
